Peel Engineering Company The Peel Engineering Company was a manufacturing company based on the Isle of Man. They were the pioneers of using GRP (Glass-reinforced plastic) in the early 1950s. They made motor fairings for the famous TT racers, than car bodies fitting to Ford 8 and 10 chassis. In this time they also made go-karts. In 1955 they made the Peel Manxcar then in the 1960s the Peel P50 and the Peel Trident. After these microcars, their own Mini alternative, the Viking Sport was produced. Later they made some GRP Mini, and moulds for it. In the early 1970s they made some boat under the West Marine Ltd. name. The Peel Engineering Company ceased in 1974. |
